Georgia Tech is seeking to leverage impact from its $1B research and innovation enterprise by allowing entrepreneurial students access to available technology generated by its Researchers to explore and evaluate commercial potential.  CREATE-X, VentureLab, and GTRC are excited to announce Georgia Tech’s first ‘hackathon’ for students to explore technologies available and present their ideas for applications and commercialization.  Both, technical and non-technical students are encouraged to participate, as the competition is more on the application of the technology to launch a viable startup.  Students will register individually and submit teams during the hackathon.

The winners of the hackathon will get fast-track access to CREATE-X Startup Launch where they can get immediate mentorship over the Summer to launch the business and get subsequent resources from VentureLab to take the idea forward.

The opportunity includes grant funding from sources such as such as CREATE-X, NSF I-Corps, and the Georgia Research Alliance (GRA).

Eligibility

All current Georgia Tech students and staff.

Requirements

5 minute video presentation proposing an application of the technology and support for why this approach can be impactful.  Demonstrate how the technology can solve the problem being addressed, by also providing details on the problem, and explaining why your proposed solution would be better than existing solutions on the market.
